GOT MATTED…?

Matted Hair in Dogs

A very common problem!

This makes a life for your beloved friend very uncomfortable.
This matting on a dog can cause the skin to pull because of the tension of the fur which will then result in the dog licking that area to try to relieve himself of the irritation or pain.
This licking, in turn, makes the matting worse and if left unattended can cause major skin irritation and disorder.
The best way to resolve this issue is shaving down the matting. Many times it comes out only one big piece of tangled hair- see the picture.

REMEMBER

Brushing the outer coat will make the dog look good, but may not get all the mats.
Sometimes the only way to assure that the dog has been brushed thoroughly is to go over the entire body with a metal comb.
